Building a community of respect and support
Our families have more in common than simply sharing experiences of having a child with Down syndrome.
About Us
CVDSG
The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group (CVDSG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in March 2010 with the vision of creating a community of families in the Champlain Valley Region who have a child or family member with Down syndrome. From that initial meeting, where a small group of families gathered, the CVDSG has grown to include over 70 families spread out across the Champlain Valley in Vermont and Upstate New York.

Our Community
I will never forget the first October after we moved to Burlington. We felt great pride and connectedness as we walked along the streets of Burlington with many CVDSG families in our first Buddy Walk. Over the next seven years, we have received not only inspiration, but practical information and support from our friends in the CVDSG—a very meaningful part of our lives here in Vermont.

We learned about CVDSG soon after receiving a prenatal Down Syndrome diagnosis and were very warmly welcomed. We are so glad that this community exists and feel lucky to be a part of it. The events are fun, we’ve made new friends, and we look forward to staying engaged with the group as our daughter grows.

What an amazing time we had gathering with the CVDSG our first winter in Burlington. There were kids of all ages, young adults, and lots of supportive family members. This is a place I’ve been able to ask questions like how to have a successful IEP meeting or “help!”, how do I support my daughter through puberty!
