National Down Syndrome Affiliations

The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group is an affiliate of the two primary national advocacy groups for people with Down syndrome:  the National Down Syndrome Congress and the National Down Syndrome Society.  These groups, and their web sites, offer a wealth of information for new and expectant parents, as well a wide array of topics covering education, health care and independent living.  We encourage you to visit these web sites – and to become members.

Vermont Family Network

Vermont Family Network (VFN) promotes better health, education, and well-being for all children and families, with a focus on children and young adults with special needs.

Vermont Family Network began in July, 2008, when Vermont Parent Information Center (VPIC) and Parent to Parent of Vermont merged. Since the merger, VFN has continued to offer the same support, services, and referrals to children and families that were once offered by VPIC and Parent to Parent.

Their office is located at 600 Blair Park Road, Suite 240 in Williston, Vermont and is are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm.  For more information about their programs and services, please contact them at (802) 876-5315 or 1-800-800-4005.

Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress

The MDSC’s stated mission is:  To ensure individuals with Down syndrome in Massachusetts are valued, included, and given the opportunities to pursue fulfilling lives by providing information, networking opportunities, and advocacy for people with Down syndrome and their families, educators, health care professionals, and the community-at-large.

While their focus is people residing in Massachusetts, they serve a broader area and provide excellent resources to our group from an adjoining state, such as the Annual Conference in March and the Educators Forum in November.  All are welcome to become members and/or to attend one of their conferences.
